April 2026 Newsletter
So, here we are, 3 months have passed since my last “monthly” newsletter. In my defense things have been anything but boring. Between getting the particulars of a completely new lifestyle figured out, making a graceful exit from my job, my recent election to the local Democratic club executive board and keeping up with the events of the day creativity has taken a back seat.
That said there are a few projects I want to get going in the near future: The first is Kinship Urban Gardens and Vegetable Exchange. I also am excited to get KV Voices, a community sing-a-long /jam session put together. Then there’s KV-V2, a program to promote volunteerism in our community. Finally, I’m looking at possibly getting a language/cultural exchange club set up under KV. Details and progress reports posted on our website, www.kinshipvillage.org I have a few other ideas but these are the four programs that folks seem to be most interested in. Community feedback directs where I focus my energy so please let me know what you think!
The challenges are time, again if any of these programs strike a chord with you please reach out. The other is funds. Unfortunately nothing is free, even when you’re trying to do good. Please consider visiting our donation page at www.kinshipvillage.org/donate. All donations are tax deductible and much appreciated. Also, if you know anybody that might be interested in what we're doing please feel free to pass this along!
Kinship Village is grounded in the principles of the Indigenous/Kinship Worldview, also know as Kinview. I recently posted a short article on Substack that explains Kinview and lays out the important role it has to play as we move forward as a species
Well, I guess that pretty much wraps up what I have to share. Please remember to be kind to each other and our planet. These are difficult times. Kindness, compassion and empathy will carry us through.
Hope for Ice Detainees
Senators Schiff and Padilla recently reported that detainees in the California City Detention Center were not provided clean water or adequate food. Additionally, critical medical attention was not provided. These claims are backed up by reports from ICE detention centers across the country. We have this petition posted to the senators posted on MoveOn.
